    In Australia

    As at 6:00am on 2 April 2020, there have been 4,976 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Australia. There have been 269 new cases since 6:00am yesterday.

    Of the 4,976 confirmed cases in Australia, 21 have died from COVID-19. More than 261,000 tests have been conducted across Australia.

    * Note that under National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System reporting requirements, cases are reported based on their Australian jurisdiction of residence rather than where they were detected. For example, a case reported previously in the NT in a NSW resident is counted in the national figures as a NSW case.

    New South Wales has close to half of all the COVID-19 cases with 2,298 infections.

    Victoria has 968.

    Queensland has 781 coronavirus cases.

    South Australia has 367.

    Western Australia has 392.

    The ACT has 84.

    The Northern Territory now has 18.

    Tasmania has 68.
